Traffic Unit
The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Kerrville Police Department is dedicated to assisting the department with its stated mission of protecting life and property, preserving peace, community problem solving, and preventing crime in the community.

The unit is comprised of a supervisor with the rank of sergeant and four officers. All personnel assigned to the unit receive specialized training to include advanced accident scene reconstruction.

The main mission of the unit is the enforcement of state traffic laws through proactive measures. Additional duties include investigating accidents, reconstructing major accident scenes, coordinating and assisting with community events such as parades and road construction projects, providing funeral escorts within the city limits, conducting studies of traffic issues, compiling accident statistics, augmenting the patrol division, and providing assistance to other law enforcement agencies when requested.

The unit has a variety of specialized equipment to assist in the completion of these duties. This equipment includes regular marked police vehicles, traffic enforcement units with subdued marking for highway interception, laser ranging equipment, accident reconstruction equipment and software, and the latest radar equipment. The dedicated members of the unit will use their skills and assets to assist the community and enhance the quality of life for everyone in Kerrville.
