Solid Waste
Solid Waste is a division of the Public Works Department.  The Solid Waste Division is responsible for managing the City of Kerrville’s residential solid waste collections and disposal operations. Republic Services is contracted to provide all collection services for residential customers. To protect public health and safety, the Solid Waste Division provides a variety of municipal solid waste services to residents that are safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible. The list of services include:
  • Collection of regular garbage
  • Collection of single stream recycling
  • Monthly collection for yard waste
  • Collections and drop off opportunities for bulky waste items
  • Household Hazardous Waste drop off event
  • Collection of dead animals
  • Recycling drop off station

Tire Collection Event -
On Saturday, June 17, 2017, the City of Kerrville Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division will hold a free tire collection event at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 Highway 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This event is intended for resident drop off only; no commercial businesses will be allowed to participate due to limited grant funding.

  • There is a limit of eight (8) tires per vehicle.
  • Only passenger vehicle tires will be collected.
  • No tractor tires will be accepted.
  • No semi-truck tires will be accepted.
  • Tires with rims will be allowed.

Yard Waste Update -   Residents wishing to utilize the yard waste collections must adhere to the guidelines for this service. Any items placed out for collection that are not compliant will be subject to code enforcement. Please refer to the Solid Waste Calendar for complete guidelines. If you have amounts that exceed the limit, you may take debris to the Transfer Station. Tipping fees do apply for any items taken to the site.                        

Solid Waste Services                                                  
The City of Kerrville uses an automated collection system for regular garbage and recycling.  Every residential unit uses 45 gallon or 95 gallon carts for recycling and regular garbage. In addition, yard waste is collected monthly on designated weeks, and  up to four opportunities are provided to discard of bulky waste items.  Please refer to the Solid Waste Calendar for complete guidelines. Landfill, Transfer Station, Recycling Drop-off Site
The City of Kerrville owns a municipal landfill, transfer station, composting facility, and a recycling drop-off site.  The City contracts with Republic Services to operate these facilities.  For information on fees, requirements, hours of operation, or for other general inquiries, please contact Republic Services Customer Service Center at (830) 257-3831 or (210) 304-2700.
