Light the Island

A glowing opportunity has come to the Hill Country during the holiday season. The City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department plans to decorate the trees of Tranquility Island with Christmas lights in an effort to bring the holiday spirit to Louise Hays Park and The River Trail. This project will be phased over the next several years and the goal is to eventually light the entire island of trees (within reason) from the Tranquility Island bridge to the Lemos Street Bridge.

Lights for the Island will turn on, and will remain up and lit, from the Holiday Lighted Parade (late November) to the beginning of January.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Interested in sponsoring this project? The Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the Kerrville Christmas Lighting Corporation (KCLC) to raise funds for the electrical infrastructure that will Light the Island along the River Trail, from the Tranquility Island Bridge to the Lemos Street Bridge. This will allow Kerrville to shinebright with beautiful Christmas lights during the holiday season and other special occasions.

We are already halfway there for fundraising, thanks to the Kerrville Economic Improvement Corporation (EIC)! EIC approved a funding agreement to jumpstart the project, awarding KCLC with a $100,000 matching grant to support the Light the Island project along Tranquility Island in Louise Hays Park.

With your help, Kerrville will continue its momentumto finish this project! Contributions are matched dollar-for-dollar through our EIC grant. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation or sponsorship to light up a tree along the River Trail by June 30, 2021, to Light the Island with the Spirit of Christmas!
