The Traffic Unit is comprised of a Sergeant and four Patrol Officers. The Traffic Unit’s Goals are to reduce injuries, death and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. Traffic Officers receive specialized training in accident investigation and reconstruction. The Traffic Unit also promotes the use of seat belts and child safety seats. The Traffic Officers are certified to inspect child safety seats and the Kerrville Police department is a certified child safety seat inspection station. The Traffic Unit is focused on safety; traffic officers enforce hazardous traffic violations in in areas where they have received citizens’ complaints. Traffic Officers also focus their attention on impaired and distracted driving. The Kerrville Traffic Unit participates annually in Traffic Safety Programs such as Shattered Dreams, Click-it or Ticket, and Impaired Driver Mobilizations.
