[ARCHIVED] Kerr County Fires - Update

The City of Kerrville makes the following official announcement. Judge Tinley has declared a state of disaster for Kerr County.

The Texas Forest Service has been contacted and they are sending air support for the area, specifically two Blackhawk helicopters with water dropping capability.

There are several brush fires in the area. The fire at Hwy 173 at Camp Verde has been contained. The Upper Turtle Creek Fire is being worked by Medina volunteer fire department. The major fire at Mile Marker 479 and I-10 at Midway is being worked by several volunteer agencies and the City of Kerrville Fire Department.

Interstate 10 West bound traffic is being diverted at Goat Creek (Mile Marker 501). East bound traffic is being diverted at Segovia, Mile Marker 477 (Hwy 290) East to Fredericksburg. TxDOT Road Closure information is kept up to date on apps.dot.state.tx.us/travel/road conditions2.htm

Kerrville ISD is posting up to date information on Cable Channel 2 and www.kerrvilleisd.net.
