PRESS RELEASE
Effective 3-03-06:
The City of Kerrville reminds owners to keep privately-owned drainage ways free of debris. With spring weather coming now is the time to clean creeks, culverts and drainage ways. Nearly every creek and river property in the city is privately owned and maintained; keeping brush and tall grass mowed down by individuals is vitally important to allow the free passage of flood waters in the event of a storm.
Under Sec. 58-103 of the Kerrville Code of Ordinances all property which contains weeds, rubbish, debris, brush or any objectionable, unsightly, or unsanitary matter is a public nuisance and illegal.
Under Sec. 90-75 of the Kerrville Code of Ordinances Maintenance of all driveways, islands and other access driveway appurtenances on the right-of-way shall be the responsibility of the property owner to maintain and keep free of debris and sediment build-up.
Please take this opportunity over the next few weeks to clean areas you are responsible for before spring showers begin. You may report violations to Kerrville Code Enforcement at 792-8353.
