[ARCHIVED] Disturbance Ends in Death

On February 10, 2013, at 8:43 PM, the Kerrville Police Department (KPD) responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding the discharge of a weapon in the 800 block of Moore St.

When Police Officers arrived in the 800 block of Moore St., they found a bystander who stated that someone had been shot inside a vehicle, and the vehicle left the scene. It was also reported to the Officers the person involved in the shooting fled the scene.

While Officers conducted their investigation on scene, the victim arrived by private vehicle to Peterson Regional Medical Center. The victim was subsequently transported by AirLife to University Hospital in San Antonio. The male victim, identified as Pedro Zuniga III, 20 years of age, was pronounced deceased by a member of the University Hospital Staff, as a result of the injury sustained.

The Kerrville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit (C.I.U.) preliminary investigation indicates that both the suspect and victim were involved in a disturbance, which resulted in the suspect displaying a firearm and shooting the victim. As a result, an arrest warrant affidavit was submitted and signed by Kerrville Municipal Judge Mark Prislovsky, for the arrest of Joseph Zackary Diaz, 24 years of age.
