On February 28, 2014, at 9:28 PM, the Kerrville Police Department (KPD) responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a stabbing at a residence in the 500 block of Rees St.

When Police Officers arrived at the residence on Rees St., they found a male victim, 44 years of age, who had been stabbed once in the chest. It was reported to the Officers that the person involved in the stabbing fled the scene on foot.

The Kerrville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit (C.I.U.) preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect (step grandson) was arguing with his biological grandmother when the victim (step grandfather) stepped in. A physical altercation erupted between the suspect and the victim which resulted in both falling to the floor of the residence. During the physical altercation on the floor, the victim sustained a stab wound to the chest. The Kerrville Fire/EMS was on scene furnishing medical aid to the victim, who was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center and subsequently died from his injury.

The suspect, who returned to the scene shortly after, was identified and determined to be a 15 year old male juvenile. The suspect was detained and subsequently transported to the Kerr County Juvenile Detention Center. The juvenile suspect remains at the detention center pending his appearance before a magistrate in a Juvenile Hearing, for the charge of Murder.
